Tygerberg hospital has put up new security plans after a two weeks old baby boy was snatched from a maternity ward without his nurses or security guards noticing.
Baby BZ Ncumani went missing from the ward during a visiting hour on Friday.
“Visitors from now on will be required to provide the name of the mother and the baby who they wish to visit and should be unable to provide this they will be denied access”, said Western Cape health Departmental spokesperson Mark Van der Heever.
“The hospital will employ more security to cover all the entrances and exits, added Van der Heever.
