A 16-year-old boy has drowned in a swimming pool in Mowbray on Tuesday evening in the Western Cape.
The boy who is from Durban was on holiday with his family in the province.
The family went to the pool to cool off from the heat wave.
He then went off with a group of boys to take a swim in a pool.
ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser said, “Minutes later one of the boys noticed the 16-year-old floating at the bottom of the pool.”
The security was alerted who immediately performed CPR while waiting on emergency health services.
Paramedics arrived on the scene and continued CPR until he was taken to a nearby hospital.
He was later declared dead.
