The NSRI says a two-year-old boy and his 35-year-old uncle are lucky to be alive after being rescued from drowning in the Langebaan Lagoon on the Cape West coast.
NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon says, “The Director of Emergency Medical Services, Western Cape Cleeve Robertson and his family were staying on a houseboat off-shore in the Lagoon when they spotted the toddler hanging on desperately to a small inflatable craft.”
“When they reached the toddler, they spotted the uncle clinging to another houseboat and in obvious distress,” he said.
It is alleged that the uncle swam out to save the boy before he found himself in some difficulties.
