South Africa has the highest murder rate in the world

The South African Institute of Race Relations says South Africa is the only country in the world that has the highest murder rate than the road accident rate.

The murder and road fatality rates for the past two years were 32 and 28 per one-hundred-thousand-people respectively.

The Institute`s Researcher Kerwin Lebone said road fatality rates ranged from three times the murder rate in the United States to ten times the murder rate in Poland.

Lebone also said that the factors which contribute to the murder rate to be so high are unknown.
