The Department of Social Development in the Western Cape confirmed today that they have placed a high ranking official on special leave after drug possession allegations surfaced against him.
In June last year Dave McNamara was nabbed after he was found with tik straws on him at a notorious apartment block in the city.
Social Development spokesperson Melany Kuhn said that they have taken legal advice on the matter and they have decided to proceed with a course of action.
She added that the official has now been placed on immediate leave for the next seven days.
He also been informed of the department’s decision to follow through with proceedings.
