Cosatu confirmed that this month of April will be a dark month for consumers.
The trade union said that yesterday electricity shot up by a minimum of 16%, the petrol price to increase by 71 cents a litre on Wednesday.
The Metrorail tickets prices will also go up well over the rate of inflation and by the end of this month Gauteng motorists can expect to pay at least 30 cents per kilometre to drive on the e-toll highway.
Cosatu says the country is now paying for the policy of turning basic public services into commodities from which business can make maximum profits.
