The Democratic Alliance has welcomed the Department of Energy`s call for a review of the fuel pricing mechanism that is used by the Central Energy Fund.
DA`s Member of Parliament Lance Greyling said that government needs to take bold steps to bring down the fuel prices.
Greyling says high fuel prices damage the prospects for growth and job creation.
Greyling further said that the dramatic 71 cent per-litre increase could have been much lower if government had used a more sensitive formula to determine the price.
Greyling added that petrol price increases affect all South Africans and will weigh down the economy
