The Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has warned that government will soon implement strict measures to clamp down on tax defaulters.

Gordhan was speaking at the launch of the Revenue Service’s compliance programme in Pretoria.
Gordhan said that although overall tax compliance had improved the tendency required constant monitoring.

The Minister says that attention will be directed towards the construction industry which has significantly low levels of tax compliance.

Gordhan added that construction companies which receive government tenders will be thoroughly inspected.
