Solidarity says that their Stop Absa Campaign launched last week has become one of the largest ever social media protest campaigns run in South Africa .
Solidarity protested against retrenchments at Absa using Twitter and Facebook.
Solidarity Spokesperson Moira-Marie Kloppers says that this is a first for South African online protests.
According to prominent Twitter monitoring sites more than 40-thousand Facebook users commented on the campaign and more than half-a-million people tweeted about it in the past five days.
