More than four-million-Rands in state funds have reportedly been spent on contesting Wallmart’s takeover of Massmart.
This is according to Economic Development Minister Ebrahim Patel.
Government has been fighting the union since 2010 and suffered another delay last year when the competition hearing approved the merger.
Patel says his department and the department of agriculture forestry and fisheries have jointly spent four-point-one-million-Rands thus far.
