Today Tygerberg Hospital is having an open day, where various departments will have stalls with information for the public.
The open day is also for staff so that they can have free health checks.
The hospitals principal communications officer Laticia Pienaar said the health checks available will be blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol, finger prick for prostate cancer and breast examinations.
There will be professional medical staff on duty to assist the public.
Pienaar added that they want to prevent people from finding out to late that they have a health problem.
