Emergency officials have confirmed that three children have been killed in Randfontein in Gauteng, after fire fighters who arrived to control the blaze did not have enough water.
The three siblings’ sister was also seriously injured after their home started burning.
Witnesses say emergency services took longer than an hour to arrive at the scene.
A family friend of the deceased Franz Olckers says the fire truck left after a half hour to fetch more water at a shopping complex and returned with the truck half full.
