The Western Cape traffic officials arrested about 36 motorists for various traffic violations this weekend.

Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said more than 3000 vehicles were stopped on the province’s roads.

He said officers will continue to have roadblocks during weekends and added that officials are working towards making roads safer for those that use them.

Africa said several pedestrians were also arrested.

He said the highest alcohol reading recorded was 1,03mg and that was in the Beufort West region.
