As the DA will be holding the Federal Congress from the 23rd to the 25th of this month, the commission for Gender Equality is mandated by section 187 of the country’s constitution to promote respect for gender equality and the protection, development and attainment of gender equality of South Africa.

The Commission is also empowered under law to monitor and evaluate the policies and practices of state organs.

Deputy Chairperson for the Commission of Gender Equality Thoko MPumlwane  says gender equality should be practiced in all structures of society.

She adds that political parties are there to role model what it means to live in a society that affirms men and women.
