The City of Cape Town has vowed to hold contractors to account to ensure good quality upgrades of council homes.

The City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements Councillor Tandeka Gqada together with a small delegation inspected on Wednesday the work done on some of the Council homes that have been included in the pilot phase of the City’s massive Residential Upgrade project.

Councillor Gqada said there is room for improvement after they received complaints on the quality of the workmanship.

Gqada said the councilors, contractors and portfolio chairperson are going to hold a meeting to come up with a plan on how to rectify the issues that have been identified.  Also the people need to work together with the contractors to ensure satisfactory work is done.
