The Democratic Alliance today said
the comments made by the Minister of Transport Dipuo Peters on the
implementation of e-tolling shows that she is out of touch with reality.
DA MP of Transport Ian Ollis said
they will not support e-tolling as it will be disastrous to the economy and
people of Gauteng
“Her statement this week stating
that most motorists are happy to pay for e-tolls, is not a true reflection of
what the position is on the ground. Already in 2009 SANRAL discovered by
surveying the public that up to 48% of the public would not pay the e-toll
bill,” Ollis added.
Ollis further added that that is a significant number its almost half and for the minister to dismiss those findings and state that the she believes the public are happy to pay e-tolls expect for the minority shows that she is out of touch with the statistics.
