The Annual Labour Market Bulletin for the financial year 2012/2013 has found that the unemployment rate has remained stubborn.

In a statement by the Department of Labour it showed that the quality of jobs had declined and the type of jobs created by the economy are short-term and not sustainable.

Some factors contributing to this are the on-going strike actions happening in the country.

Department of Labour’s Thembinkosi Mkhaliphi said they are confirming what the Minister of Finance and other commentators in the labour market have been saying that unemployment rate in the country is not reducing its still high and it’s a concern.

“We released a strike report for the last financial year and the unemployment rate has not increased,” Mkhaliphi added.
