The Hawks investigate SARS and not Pravin Gordhan

It is believed that, while the presidency says Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan's position is not under threat and the Hawks claim they’re not investigating him, the African National Congress says the Gordhan issue was not discussed at its National Working Committee meeting yesterday.

The Presidency released another statement saying, “Claims that President Jacob Zuma and Gordhan are at war are a total fabrication and mischievous sensationalism”.

Last week, Gordhan said a letter from the Hawks, asking him about a SARS unit he helped create, was an attempt at intimidating him before his budget.

The office also says measures are now being put in places to address the issues around the difficulties in the relationship between Gordhan and South African Revenue Service boss Tom Moyane.
