School children warned about online training scam

The Department of Public Works has issued a warning to pupils in grades 10 to 12 about an online training scam.

The department says it appears pupils are asked to fill out an online form that they hope will allow them to receive training in bricklaying, boiler making and carpentry.

Learners, however, end up getting no response and it's unclear what happens to the personal details they submit.

Public Works spokesperson Thami Mchunu says job seekers should always verify the legitimacy of any online post before giving out their details.
