The City of Cape Town has urged households to save energy by monitoring their electricity consumption as consumers brace themselves for an average electricity price increase of 33-point-five percent.
Spokesperson Clive Justus says in one way of saving power is to adjust hot water cylinders down to about 55 degrees. He says this brings about a considerable saving.
As of the first of this month, the City’s new domestic tariff for 600 kWh, has increased from 389-rand to 529-rand. For one-thousand kWh, the price has gone up from 626-rand 852-rand. These figures include VAT.
