The Council of Education Ministers have taken a decision to release matric results on January, 7. It was decided to release the results later than usual to ensure accurate, reliable marks.
According to reports, the Department of Basic Education said t he extended winter holiday in 2010 to accommodate the World Cup will reduce the time to mark, capture and process the results.
Some Western Cape universities say the late release of results will affect student registration and other administrative processes negatively.
“We need to discuss this decision internally for our own processes, but don’t know of the impact on universities,” says Paddy Attwell, Director of Communication for the Western Cape Department of Education.
