Obama hopes to attend 2010 World Cup

United States President Barack Obama says he hope to attend the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa.

President Obama it was “his goal” to attend the world soccer tournament. United State’s first black president, who took office in January this year was speaking during his closing address at the G8 summit in L’Aguila in Italy.

Has said the African continent could become self-sufficient in providing food for its own people.

The G8 leaders pledged over 164-billion-rands for efforts to boost food supplies to the hungry, in a deal reached on the final day of the summit, South Africa is also represented at the summit by President Jacob Zuma.

South Africa is host the FIFA 2010 World cup in June next year, the first of this kind to the continent.

In last month’s FIFA Confederation Cup which was a build up for the 2010 tournament South Africa was praised and given a green light by the governing authorities.
