The Institute of Race Relations says a learner's chances of passing matric will be improved if they attend a former model C school.

The Institute’s Marius Roodt says, “The high percentage pass rate of 98-percent in 2009 is an indication that Model C schools are still better resourced and managed than other schools.”

He says, the matrics with the best results still come from these schools and they can afford to hire more teaches.
