Lusanda Bill
2 November 2010
The Minister of Higher Education and Training Minister Blade Nzimande has called for a skills revolution, saying government needs to work with social partners to achieve this aim.
This morning the minister signed three delivery agreements in Parliament.
He stated that about three-million young people aged between 18 and 24 are unemployed and almost two-million of them haven’t matriculated.
He contributed the large drop-out rate at colleges and universities largely to a lack of money, saying many poor students are going hungry.
Nzimande says he is working with his colleagues in government, ministers of science and technology, public enterprises, economic development, trade and industry and others to improve the skills level of citizens.
