Eight Eastern Cape Health Officials have been suspended for allegedly defrauding the Department of more than R200 000.
They apparently used other employees' user numbers on the Department's computer system to award themselves overtime.
Departmental spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo says the officials are all human resource supervisors, working in the Mthatha area.
It is believed that the scam had been in operating since 2006.
Kupelo says 16 other people are also believed to have received illegal payments.
