Lusanda Bill
12 November 2010
The ad hoc committee which has been tasked with handling the proposed Protection of Information Bill has asked Parliament to extend its lifespan.
The committee have had a tough couple of months with the Bill, with criticism of the Bill coming from editors, journalists and media freedom organisations.
The committee was set to operate only until the end of next week. Committee chairperson Cecil Burgess says it is unlikely that they will be able to finalise the Bill before the end of the year.
The committee is due to meet again next week Tuesday.
