The City of Cape Town has reassured residents that their drinking water is safe.
This comes after many residents complained about the foul odour and earthy taste in recent weeks.
Mayoral Committee member for Utility Services, Shehaam Sims says the taste and odour is caused by a reaction in the soil.
The reaction is taking place at two major damns that supplies drinking water.
