The Labour Department has increased the minimum wage for farmworkers by R127,96 a month.
This will take effect from the 1st of March 2012 . The remuneration is applicable to an ordinary 45-hour week of work.
The increase is calculated at the previous year's minimum wage, plus the consumer price index including one and a half percent.
The department warns that employers who are ignorant toward the farm workers' sector determination must do so at their own risk.
