The Western Cape Local Government MEC Anton Bredell today said that his department will be investigating a tender debacle.

This involves the Plettenberg Bay Bitou Municipality and a local information technology company.

Bredell said that the Democratic Alliance-led municipality gave Dimension Data short-term R4.3 million IT contract without a tender.

MEC further said the previous IT supplier was fired apparently because its R10 million system did not work.

The ANC claims the DA should have followed proper tender procedure.
