Two protesters have handcuffed themselves to scaffolding at the construction site at the Chapman’s Peak Toll Plaza .
The Western Cape ’s Transport and Public Works department chief Hector Elliot has been negotiating with protestors and another woman who has been on an 11-day hunger strike at the site.
The protesters say they will remain handcuffed to the site everyday until construction is called off.
The hunger striker Bronwyn Lancers-Byrne has since come up with an alternative toll booth recommendation that is more environmentally friendly.
