Rondebosch Common hosts summit

There is no end in sight for the issues surrounding Rondebosch Common.

Activists have said they will not stand down until they have reclaimed the land.

The vacant piece of land remains a huge debate for the City of Cape Town.Protesters gathered over the weekend at the Commom to discuss issues of housing, land and jobs.

The summit was lead by Congress Of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) member Tony Ehrenreich.

Tony addressed the contents of the memorandum to the public.The main phrase that was highlighted throughout the summit was “An injury to one is an injury to all”.

Mayor of Cape Town Patricia de Lille was not present to accept the memorandum however Maycor member Grant Pascoe accepted the memorandum as it was handed over to him.

Many activist said that they will continue to gather in future to discuss issues regarding land , jobs and housing.
