DA lays a complaint of corruption against ANC ward councillor

The Democratic Alliance Shadow Minister of Human Settlements Steven Mokgalaba,today submitted formal complaint of corruption to the Speaker of the City of Cape Town against ANC ward councillor, Thobile Gqola.

Mokgalaba said that the councillor allegedly offered residents in Crossroads the assurance of getting a state subsidised house in exchange for R7 000 paid directly to him.

Mokgalaba further said that they believe councillor Gqola has contravened the Councillors` Code of Conduct by using his position for personal gains.

It is alleged that about six victims of this scheme have now laid criminal charges against councillor Gqola.

Mokgalaba visited the residents today in Phillipi and Crossroads.
