The Solidarity Movement, together with other organisations on Sunday launched a massive campaign to stop the recently proposed BBEEE codes announced by Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies.

The proposed codes state that, companies’ socio-economic development contributions would only be recognised if 100% of the beneficiaries are black.

Solidarity Spokesperson Piet Le Roux said they plan to send thousands of objections to Minister Davies through social networks.

Solidarity Deputy General Secretary Dirk Hermann said this approach does not constitute social responsibility, but amounts to social irresponsibility.

Herman added that there is no justification to determine development contributions for needy people on the basis of race.
