2014/2015 fire season has claimed the lives of 5 fire fighters

Western Cape MEC of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning Anton Bredell says the 2014/2015 fire season has claimed a total of five fire-fighters.

This as a pilot and his co-worker from Working on Fire died after the helicopter crashed after working on trying to control a blaze between Wellington and Ceres.

MEC Bredell says the province has been hit by a series of fire-related tragedies over the past six months.

Ministerial Spokesperson James-Brent Styan says they also call on the public to please be responsible and please assist where possible, if you see fires let us know as soon as possible, call the emergency number 112.
