This as the Western Cape Department of Education will be expanding its assessment from teachers to add principles and deputies.

WCED says this is in line with government’s strategic objective to provide quality education and improve education outcomes.

Ministerial Spokesperson Jessica Shelver said great schools do not exist without great leaders. Therefore, the importance of having a strong and accountable school leadership team cannot be underestimated.

Shelver added that the WCED intends to expand the Competency Based Assessments for the appointment of the Deputy Principals and heads of Departments.
