COPE urges government to act on HRC threats

The Congress of the People has called on government to act regarding the South African Human Rights Commission coming under attack in KwaZulu-Natal.

This as the commission is investigating His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelitini’s role in inciting the recent xenophobic attacks in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.

Allegedly since announcing its plan to investigate the king the commission has been receiving threatening calls and letters.

COPE Spokesperson Dennis Bloem says these thugs must know that it will be in the best interest of King Zwelithini and a country as a whole that the commission investigates these allegations so that we know the truth.

“It’s only the truth that will set the King free. We want to condemn these threats and we call upon the minister of police and state security to hunt for these thugs and arrest them.” Bloem added.
