Western Cape MEC of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Anroux Marais, has encouraged the public to make submissions about what they would like to see on display at the brand new museum.

Western Cape Government has announced the transformation of an iconic Cape Town building into the Cape Town Museum.

The museum will be housed at the Old Standard Bank building in Adderley Street. The building, also known as the Queen of Adderley Street, was chosen for its rich history as it has been part of Cape Town history since the 1880.

Ministerial Spokesperson Stacy Mclean said if this important goal is met, local inhabitants will benefit from a sense of belonging and identity as they engage with the collection. This will promote social inclusion in the City and in the Western Cape as a whole. Suggestions can be sent to the following dedicated email address:capetownmuseum@westerncape.gov.za.
