One man was injured this morning after his taxi overturned on the M13 Fields Hill in Pinetown, KwaZulu Natal.

“ER24 paramedics found a taxi lying on its side of the road. It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into the barrier and overturn”, said ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring.

“Paramedics assessed the lone occupant and found that he had sustained moderate injuries”, He added.

“The man was treated and thereafter transported to St Marys Hospital for further treatment”, He concluded.

Meanwhile a woman believed to be in her late 20’s, was killed in the early hours of this Morning after she was electrocuted in the Jika Joe rural settlement on East Street in Pietermaritzburg.

“ER24 paramedics were called to the scene by local authorities who had come across the incident. Once on scene, paramedics found the body of a woman lying on the muddy ground near some exposed wires”, said Meiring.

“On assessment, paramedics found that the patient had sustained a severe burn wound to her hand and back and showed no signs of life”, He said.

“Unfortunately nothing could be done for the patient and she was declared dead on scene”, He added.

“It is believed the woman had been walking along when she tripped and fell into the exposed wires, which had been apparently illegally connected”, said Meiring.
