Delft residents to participate in name change of suburbs

The City of Cape Town has commenced with a public participation process for the naming of five unnamed suburbs in Delft.

Residents and interested parties are invited to make proposals that will commemorate the people and events that are inherent to Delft.

Councillor Brett Herron, Chairperson of the Naming Committee, City of Cape Town explains explains…..

“Delft was established in 1989 on a farm situated next to the Cape Town International Airport”.

He says, “Even though, some of the suburbs in Delft are named after Dutch Towns such as Leiden, and up to 9 precincts are still known by number up until this day”.
