A dead baby boy was found in a handbag last week Saturday on Fisher Road, near Brackenfell.

The handbag was discovered by a worker of Klein Bottelary Road, after which he notified police.

Erica Crous, spokesperson for Brackenfell Police said: “ It is believed that the baby was still born. It is alleged that attempt to set the bag alight was made but was unsuccessful.”

The baby boy suffered no burn injuries and an inquest docket has been filed. The identity of the mother is unknown as yet.
