A homeless man has been stabbed in Diep River after an argument with another man about the food they were being served at a soup kitchen.
“ It is alleged that the one man took out a knife and stabbed the other man in the chest.
“ Diep River police was summoned by the church, where the soup kitchen was distributing food, and arrived soon after the call,” said Inspector Keith Chandler of Diep River police station.
The alleged killer was arrested on the scene and faced a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. The man was taken to hospital where he later died.
The charge was then changed to a case of murder.
He will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court today.
