Cape Town Mayor Dan Plato, has extended his birthday wish to Nelson Mandela and has expressed his gratitude to the former president for the sacrifice and changes he brought about.
“When you were released, you didn’t carry any hate. You have showed us not to hate, to live together in harmony. And this is a message I will always keep with me,” said Mayor Dan Plato in his birthday wish.
The Mayor and other Councillors are in Delft to carry out their 67 minutes of goodwill.
“In honour of Mandela Day, we are here in Blikkiesdorp, Delft to hand out food to the poor and needy,” said Mayor Plato.
The Mayor also asked all Capetonians to honour and celebrate Nelson Mandela while he is still alive, and that we look up to the “great man whom we can all call our father”.
