Party demand reasons for high food price

Secretary General of Independent Democrats demanded that bread companies must urgently explain why the bread price is up while the wheat is down.

Hannif Hoosen claimed that companies increased bread with a massive 23 percent while there is 34 percent decrease on wheat.

He sent letters to the Chief Executive Officers of Premier Foods, Tiger Brands and Foodcorp and Pioneer Foods.

And one company admitted to fixes prices in 2007.
