Urbanization contributes to crime in SA

It has been reported that urbanisation is one of the main contributors to crime in the Western Cape.
This follows a recent study research released by the South African Institute of Race Relations (SAIRR) that the massive influx of people into the province from other part of the country.

The province’s high level of crime has increased the most in all of the country’s provinces in the past 14 years.

Even though the Western Cape was found to be one of the wealthiest provinces, in contributing more 14% to South Africa GDP, is was found that it had the worst rates for murder, business as well as residential burglary.
