A couple’s honeymoon has ended in tragedy in the township of Gugulethu in Cape Town.
A British woman and her husband, who were on honeymoon in South Africa, were travelling in a minibus shuttle late on Saturday night when two unknown gunmen instructed the driver to leave the vehicle.
The husband was later dropped off unharmed in the Harare Township, where he called for help.
Western Cape police spokesperson André Traut said “We are obviously devastated. We have had no incidents from the World Cup up until now.”
Anyone who could help police catch the two attackers are asked to contact the investigating officer, Colonel Riaan Theron on 082-463-8706 or Crime Stop on 08600-10111.
