The City wants residents to spare water

The City of Cape Town has urged all residents to use water sparingly as dam levels are six percent lower compared to the same time last year.

Inspectors will be patrolling in and around the city to ensure that residents are respecting the bylaws.

Two of the main water saving tips are sticking to restricted times for watering gardens and using hosepipes fitted with nozzles while washing cars.

Mayoral Committee member for utility services Shehaam Sims said that the City bylaw stipulates that one may not water your garden between 10am and 4pm.
