Western Cape Traffic MEC Robin Carlisle today said that he was disappointed that there has been slow decrease in the province’s road fatalities since 2008.
Carlisle said that there had been a drop of more than 20 percent in road deaths over the past four years.
Carlisle also said that despite a 24 percent decrease in road fatalities since 2008 in the Cape but the slow decrease is disappointing.
The Western Cape Traffic Department had launched a number of road safety initiatives in 2011.
He further said that their initiatives led to a 6.2 decrease in road deaths in 2011 as compared to the previous festive seasons.
