The Western Cape Traffic officials today said that they are determined to keep pedestrians off the Cape Peninsula’s freeways.

This comes after three pedestrians were killed on the N1 over the weekend.
According to the National Road Traffic Act pedestrians are not allowed on or to cross freeways.

Western Cape traffic Chief Kenny Africa said that they will take a different approach to getting pedestrians to stick to the law.

Africa also said they had discussions with the SAPS as well as the municipality in Cape Town to embark on special projects to keep pedestrians off the roads.
