Dept of Home Affairs to expect delays due to systems upgrade

The Department of Home Affairs says due to the system upgrade over the weekend some offices across the country will experience delays in some services.

The departments Director General Mkhuseli Apleni said the upgrades were necessary in order to improve service delivery and to carter in the delivery of smart ID cards.

Apleni says the 140 offices which are providing the services of the smart cards and the passport, some of those offices will not be able to provide services but during the course of the day we will be putting other offices more, so we really hope that by end of the day all of our offices will be up and running.
