Phiyega’s legal team will today start presenting its closing argument as to why
she is fit to hold office as National Police Commissioner.
Evidence
leaders have argued that Phiyega and her senior managers tried to cover up the
fact that they had decided to move to a tactical phase in Marikana, a day
before the shooting.
The
inquiry will establish whether Phiyega misled the Farlam Commission of Inquiry
about her involvement around the 2012 mass shooting in the North West.
Phiyega’s
legal team has indicated it will be submitting further heads of argument today.
But evidence leader Ismail Jamie will first wrap up his closing argument.
